Established in 2016, SKILLS provides housing for people with learning difficulties, mental health challenges, or physical disabilities
What We Do
Skills was established to meet the growing need for accommodation among young adults with learning disabilities, offering a pathway to independent living supported by dedicated 24/7 care teams.
Our tenants typically face challenges including learning difficulties, a history of homelessness or transitioning from higher-support care or hospital settings. With the right support, they can live with greater independence.
Skills has five properties housing over 60 individuals across the North, Midlands, and South of the UK.
We will open three new properties in 2025 in Stoke, Bolton and East Suffolk.
We offer a variety of accommodation, including self-contained one and two-bedroom flats, as well as HMO-style housing with double ensuite bedrooms and shared living spaces. This diverse range of housing enables residents to live and thrive thanks to dedicated support teams.
Our mission is to provide a supportive environment where tenants can gradually transition to independent living. With the help of our in-house team, as well as local councils and social workers, many residents go on to flourish – developing meaningful relationships, gaining essential life skills through our training programs, and even returning to college or work.
By offering supported living combined with a range of tailor-made courses, SKILLS is able to help adults develop and grow new life skills so they can live independent, integrated lives. By working closely with the public, voluntary community and private sector, we’re able to use all available resources to benefit the local community who need us most.
