A 26-year-old young man with autism and learning difficulties, had been exhibiting challenging behaviour, which led to him physically attacking his mum

Because of this, it was no longer safe for him to live in the family home, so he moved into our Supported Living Service. By engaging in our Supported Life and Key Living Skills programme, in a safe environment, he was able to gain the skills needed to start navigating and managing his behaviour.

Since the programme, he’s been able to make significant advancements and now chairs the Tenants meetings held at his service. Through SKILLS, he has learned that he has an interest in, and talent for, washing cars and gardening, and has become Head of the Gardening Club.

Through the journey and acquiring new skills, his self-esteem has greatly improved and he’s learned how to manage his behaviours. Through achieving this, he’s now back living in the family home and a much happier young man. We’ve enabled him to develop his unique talents and skills in the safe, nurturing environment he needed
